Whakatauki Term 3
At Otonga, we learn a new Whakatauki (Māori proverb) each term, and explore ways that we can depict the meaning through our learning, and social interactions. This term, our focus is team work, and working together. Room 8 are very good at pronouncing our Whakatauki, and saying what it means. Ka Rawe!
Te Wiki O Te Reo Māori - Māori Language Week 2015!
Room 8 have been celebrating Māori Language Week, and learning about our whānau (family tree), and exploring a range of Māori activities, and vocab. We have done Wharenui sketching, Tukutuku panels, Koru whānau, and Whakatauki. The children really enjoyed exploring these concepts, so we will continue with this learning over the next few weeks! Kia kaha ki te kōrero Māori!
Reading Challenge
Room 8 held a Holiday Reading Challenge over the Term 2 holiday break. The children had several activities to complete, that related to Reading. We were so pleased to have 20 Reading Challenges completed, to a high standard, Thank you so much to the whānau who helped the children with the tasks. The children received a special lunch, a treat, and a certificate of excellence. Mrs Donlon joined us too, and presented our special certificates. Ka Rawe Room 8!
