Amazing Room 8 at our Awesome Rotorua Museum!

Last Week we went to the Museum to learn about our thermal wonderland and the Tarawera eruption. We were interested to learn about what is inside the earth by looking at the layers of a boiled egg. We compared the crust of the earth to the egg shell, the mantle to the white part and the outer and inner core to the yellow part of the egg. We looked at photos, artifacts and a movie about the Tarawera eruption and Isla looked cool when she got dressed up as a person from the olden days when the eruption happened. We learned that we live in a caldera that was made by a huge eruption before any people were in New Zealand. After which the ground sunk and as the rain ran down into it lake Rotorua was formed. We went up on the roof to look at the view and saw the hills and mountains all around us. We would like to thank all our parent helpers for coming with us and Mrs Liley for sharing all the learning with us.
