We would like to introduce our new class member Sonny-Barry who will be joining us in Term 2. Sonny-Barry has Autism so cannot do some of the things that many six year olds can. The children in Room 8 have met Sonny-Barry a few times, when he has come for class visits, and have shown him our values of manaakitanga and whānaungatanga in their welcoming of him into our class. We believe that this will be a great opportunity to use our values and learn about how we can all help Sonny-Barry become a part of our class, and support him with his learning. His mother Nikki has had a talk with the children in Room 8 to explain that he has Autism and what that means. Sonny-Barry will have a teacher aide called Louise helping him. Here is Sonny-Barry and his mother Nikki talking to the class. We are very excited to have a new friend in our class - nau mai haere mai Sonny Barry!
